Susan Q. Hood joined State Farm^® in 1981 as a fire claim representative in Santa Clara, Calif. Following several promotions, she was named divisional claim superintendent in 1988. In 1992, she became assistant division manager in the Fairfax, Va., office and claims manager later that year. She transferred to corporate headquarters in 1996 as executive assistant – operations in the President's Office and was named vice president – regional services in 1997. She became vice president – operations in California in 1998 and was promoted to her current position in 2002.

Susan received a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. She earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1991. She is a member of the Claims Council for Insurance Services Office (ISO), the Board of Governors for the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and the Partners for Child Passenger Safety (PCPS) Executive Steering Committee.
